Governor Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed Oyo State government’s commitment to deepen cooperation with federal authorities to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Governor Makinde said this during working visit of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, Adegoke Fayoade, at the Secretariat, Ibadan.
The Governor who expressed gratitude to Inspector General of Police for the support deployed so far, as the state grapples with abductions and insecurity.
He commended the IGP’s Violent Crimes Unit initiative, saying it had already proven effective in the state, citing how the unit, recently rescued the kidnapped sister of former Minister of Power.
Governor Makinde, urged the DIG to convey Oyo state’s concerns to the IGP and requested feedback on areas where the state government could improve support.
Earlier speaking, DIG Fayoade, commended Oyo State Government for its logistical and financial support to Nigeria Police and other security agencies.
He expressed regret over the unfortunate kidnap incidents in the state, confirming that his team have been mandated to ensure safe return of those affected, and provide round-the-clock security for citizen across southwest.
The meeting comes amid heightened anxiety in parts of Oyo State over insecurity, with authorities working to secure the release of students and teachers abducted exactly a month ago.
