AKEEM FATIMOH of Islamic Mission Grammar School has emerged the Overall Best Student at the just concluded DARSEL 2025/2026 State Commendation Programme which was held on Tuesday at Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu Ibadan.
The commendation programme, a Mathematics Quiz competition, was designed to celebrate academic excellence and encourage learners to remain committed to their outstanding academic performance in the subject.
Speaking at the event, the founder of sapphire exploits 21st century skills consulting limited and the country implementation partner to Darsel Learn by texting WUNMI TOLU- ALALADE urged the students to make effective use of the platform by actively participating in the programme, while also calling for partnerships with ministry of education and other organizations for the growth of the programme.

Also speaking at the event Former President of Zonta 2 and retired Zonal Manager at Wema Bank, ENIOLA OYEDELE, explained that the programme aims to instill in students a strong foundation in core subjects such as Mathematics and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed for a brighter future.

A total of 25 out of the 27 participating schools took part in the programme, with Ode Aje Ajibola High School Aremo, emerging as the overall best school,while Christ the King Secondary School, Oremeji Agugu emerged second and Ratibi School, Oluyoro Oke Offa, finished third.
On her part, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education Mrs. BAMIDELE OYINLOYE praised the organizers of the event for initiating an easy Learning experience for mathematics, while the Principal of Ode Aje High School, BADMUS ALABI, who urged students not to see Mathematics as a difficult subject, encouraged them to embrace it and remain open to the opportunities it can create for their future.

The programme which also featured presentation of commendation awards, stationery and cash prizes to deserving students in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements saw AKEEM FATIMOH of Islamic Mission Grammar School who emerged as the overall best student receive 50,000-Naira, 2nd placed AKINTUNDE OLIWAFIREWAMIRI of Ayekale Community Grammar School walkaway with 40,000 naira and OLADUNNI BUKOR of Queen of Apostles School pick up 30,000 Naira.
