South African football Association SAFA has reappointed PITSO MOSIMANE as head coach of the country`s men’s national team.
The 62-year-old previously served as Bafana Bafana boss between July 2010 and June 2012.
MOSIMANE replaces HUGO BROOS, who stepped down after five years in the role when his contract expired at the end of July.
The Belgian led the side to a third-placed finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) and the last 32 of this year’s World Cup, when South Africa returned to the finals for the first time since hosting in 2010.
MOSIMANE left his role as Bafanabafana Coach in June 2012 after a 1-1 home draw against Ethiopia in their first qualifier for the 2014 World Cup.
Since then, he has enjoyed club success with Sundowns and Egyptian giants Al Ahly, winning the African Champions League three times.
More recently he has had spells managing in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Iran.
