Wale Edun, Dangiwa resigned voluntarily before cabinet reshuffle – Presidency

The Presidency has clarified that former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, voluntarily resigned from office before President Bola Tinubu announced their replacements.In a statement on Wednesday signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency said both ministers separately tendered their resignations before the Federal Executive Council changes were announced.According to the statement, Edun, who turned 70 on Monday and had been experiencing health challenges, submitted his resignation letter on his birthday, thanking the President for the opportunity to serve.His letter read in part: “It has been a pleasure and privilege to serve your administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda.”Edun added: “Under your leadership, Nigeria has emerged stronger, more resilient and more internationally respected. I wish you and the administration every success in the future.”The Presidency also said the former minister also paid a valedictory visit to President Tinubu at the Villa on Tuesday, where he held a private meeting before stepping down to attend to personal matters.Similarly, Dangiwa also resigned, thanking the President for the opportunity to serve in the Federal Executive Council.
